1. Introduction Of SyberTalk
What is the
SyberTalk
It is a small
stand-alone device that enable you not only to have an internet phone
call your party but also place the call to any phone in the world.It
will save you up to 95% of your long-distance/international phone
bill.The dot matrix LCD will guide your setting at the beginning.No
computer,no internet software,no specific carriers and no gateway(SyberTalk-to-SyberTalk)are
required

Definition
of function buttons
The LCD display
will show all on-screen menu guide and needed alphanumeric symbols
for your configuration.
Cancel
button:To reject or cancel all cards,setting or option.
Arrow
button: To scroll the option menu backward and forward to set the
alphanumeric or special symbols.
OK
button: To accept the in coming call,setting or option.
The LED indicator
status:
RED:Trigger mode
enable,no international call needed
Alternate YELLOW/GREEN:Incoming
call and wait for picking up for internet phone conversation
Falshing GREEN:Ring
is coming for normal telephone or ring trigger Period
Falshing RED in
5 second :failure to connect ISP
YELLOW:Dialing
To ISP(Internet Service Provider)
GREEN:Internet
connection OK
Falshing YELLOW:Internet
congestion
Alernate RED/GREEN:Update
available notification and last for 10 seconds after Internet connection

Note:do not disconnect
or power off the unit during this period.

2. How to install the SyberTalk
Step 1:Please
plug the AC adapter plus into the electrical outlet and into the rear
side of the SyberTalk labeled PW.
Step 2:To connect
the phone cord from the wall-jack to the rear side of the SyberTalk
labeled LINE.
Step 3:To connect
your normal analog phone and turn on the power .The SyberTalk will
perform self-test and display as below,if everything is ok.
NoteRS-232 connector
is used for one of the methods of upgrading the software and MIC/SPK
is used for external speakerphone and microphone.
Please turn it
off ,if SyberTalk can not pass the self-test.And try it again after
5-10 seconds.Please check the chapter of FAQ or Troubleshooting.
Note:V1.obo is
a Beta version,some function are not available.

3. How to get starting
What is the checking
list before you start?
You have to configure
the SyberTalk before you use it for the first time.You follow the
on-screen guide on the LCD and use the button or your touch-tone phone
to finish the job.Please have the following information beside you
before you do the setting.
Local Internet
access number:This number is for you to do the local dialing to
access your ISP .you may need one prefix number for accessing the
outside line(ex9 or 0 depends on your proprietary local switch in
your office or Home)
User name:This
is used to log in to your ISP account.
Password:
This is used to log in to your ISP account.
ISP Internet
access type:It is used to communicate with your ISP(if you have
any question,please check with your ISP)
E-mail address:This
is the address for you to send or receive the mail .Ex.Ivan is your
user name and your mail address.
Country code
:The code represents the country you located to use the SyberTalk.
Vtel:This
is your Virtual telephone number with 12 digits,which bundled with
the SyberTalk.This is your personal unique number to make your SyberTalk
as a mobile Internet phone.That means you can be reached whenever
and whenever you are,if you log in the ISP.
How to enter
the alphanumeric symbols ?
You have to use
your touch-tone telephone set to do the setting .All the numeric Keys
represent the alphanumeric symbols groups.And the pond Key(#) represents
/Enter/ or "Space" (the OK button on the SyberTalk also has the same
function as pond Key at this moment).The star Key (*) represents /Delete/
or /Backspace/ (the Cancel button on the SyberTalk also has the same
function as star Key at this moment).

For example
If you want to
edit the character with small case r on the cursor located,you
have to press the Key 5 on the telephone set 8 time and
take each press within 2 seconds.You will see the symbols scrolling
from 7,P,Q,R,S,p,q to r in sequencr.You just did not press any key
within 2 seconds,the symbols will be selected and shift the cursor
to next position .You only have to press Cancel button
on the SyberTalk or star Key to go back to the previous position ,if
you make any mistake.You can follow this procedure to set the rest
of information and press OK button on the SyberTalk or
pond Key to confirm and store the setting.

4. How to configure the system
Please follow
the on-screen menu guide on the LCD to configure your SyberTalk.You
have to pay much attention to set all parameters,otherwise you may
not operate the Internet phone properly
Step1:You will
see the message on the LCD after turning on the power propery
Note:You will
be assigned the Vtel number (10 digits) at you SyberTalk.The unique
number will not be changeable.
Step2:Press Arrow
Key to enter the configuration mode.You can see the message as below:
After flashing
on LCD few seconds,the message will become as below:
4.1 ISP setting
The SyberTalk
supports multi-ISP profile.You can set and select the proper ISP for
your Internet phone application.
Step1Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD as below.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set your system in the ISP
setting mode
4.1.1 ISP select
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on SyberTalk to scroll up or down the message
on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the ISP
Select mode
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.There are up to 5 ISP names for you to have the
direct dialing.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on SyberTalk to select the ISP you want to dial.
Note: There
is no any ISP existing for your first time to use the unit
Step 5:Press the
Cancel button to exit to previous setting mode.
4.1.2 Add ISP
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on SyberTalk to scroll up or down the message
on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on SyberTalk to set the system in the Add
ISP mode.
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.There are up to 6 items for you to edit and memory
inside the SyberTalk.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk after selecting the item you
want to edit.
You can edit the
ISP name up to 15 characters.
You can edit the
ISP telephone number for you dialing.Please review the Previous chapter
for editing.
Note: You may
have to add the prefix number 0 or 9 for you to access the external
line through your local PABX (PABX system dependent)You can press
Right Arrow button for waiting time of your PABX,each
common , represents one wautung time unit.
You user name
usually is same as the prefix characters of @ on your e-mail address.This
is used for you to log in the Internet.Please review the previous
chapter for editing.
The LCD will show
the star (*) character only when you Key in the password.Please review
the previous chapter for editing.
You have to Key
in the password again for confirmation .If fails,please edit the password
again.
This is for your
personal record and reserved for future.Please review the previous
chapter for editing.
It will return
to the mode as below after setting.
4.1.2 Delete
ISP
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Delete
ISP mode.
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down to
select the ISP name you want to delete.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk after selecting the ISP name
you want to delete.
It will return
to mode as below after setting:
Note: Press Cancel
button to switch back to voice mode.
It will flash
for few seconds and show as below
4.2 Phone book
The SyberTalk
supports up to 50 sets of phone data,include name,call method,phone
number or VTel number and IDO number.You can select entry for your
fast dialing.
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the phone
book mode
4.2.1 Select
Entry
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Select
Entry mode.
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
number on the LCD.There are up to 50 numbers for you to have the direct
call.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to select the name or the number
of your party you want to call.
4.2.2 Add Entry
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Add
Entry mode.
Step 3:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to edit the phone book data.
This is the name
of your frequently called party.It is up to 16 characters for you
to edit.Press OK button on SyberTalk to enter and go to
the next setting.
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
method on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to select the proper or preferred
mode for calling.There are 4 useful methods for you to select.
Calling Methods:
- Standard mode
After you
select Directly,the LCD message will show as below and wait for
your number entered.
- Ring-Trigger
mode
After you
select Ring-Trigger,the LCD message will show as below and wait
for your number entered.
- VTel mode
After you
select VTel ,the LCD message will show as below and wait for your
12-digit number entered.You can call to any on-line waiting SyberTalk.
- Gateway method
After you
select by Gateway,the LCD message will show as below anf wait
for your International Direct Dialing (IDD) Code (Country code
+ Area code + Phone number) and Account ID which required to access
the gateway on the Internet Telephone Service provider.You can
call to any regular phone after apply any Account ID.
The LCD will
display the next message after press the OK button.
4.2.3 Delete
Entry
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the MagicTaklk to set the system in the Delete
Entry mode
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down to
select the Party name you want to delete.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk after selecting the party name
you want to delete.
Note: After
setting.you can press Cancel button to back to voice mode.
System Function
The SyberTalk
support you more parameters to set the system.
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the System
Function mode.
4.3.1 Ring
Setting
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Ring
Setting mode.
Step 3:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.There are 4 setting mode for your selecting.
Step 4:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to select ring volume as below.You
can set from 0 to 10 levels.
- Step 1:Using
the Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down
volume level on the LCD.
- Step 2:Press
the OK button on the SyberTalk to select the proper
or preferred volume of ringing.And it will switch to the next setting.
- Step 1:Using
the Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down
tone mode on the LCD.there are 4 modes for your select.
- Step 2:Press
the OK button on the SyberTalk to select the proper
or preferred tone mode.
4.3.2 Service
Function
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the MagivTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Service
Function mode.
Press the OK
button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Service Function
mode.
After you select
Vtel,the LCD message will show as below and wait for your 10-digit
number entered.You can call to any on-line waiting SyberTalk or NETalk.
After you select
Upgrading,the LCD message will show as below and wait for you to select
one of the 3 methods: by Cable,by Modem,by Internet.
You can use the
Arrow button to scroll up or down to display the 3 methods
and select by the OK button on the SyberTalk.
After you select
self-Testing,the LCD message will show as below and press OK
button to do the self-testing or Cancel button on the
SyberTalk to escape the action.
If OK,it will
show as below
4.3.3 Call
Waiting
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Call
Waiting mode.
Press the OK
button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Call Waiting
mode
You can use Arrow
button on the SyberTalk to enable or disable the call waiting function.
If you select
enable,the LCD will display as below for you to enter the enable code.
Note: The code
is dependent on your local telecom company or your office PABX,please
check with the service center or right person.
4.3.4 Call
Related
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the MaficTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press OK
button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Call Related
mode.
Press the OK
button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Call Related
mode.
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Dialing
Prefix setting
You can edit the
delay time to logout the ISP if toy did have action
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the Magicalk to set the system in the Disconnect
Min setting.
Using the Arrow
button to scroll up or down the Value of minutes.
You can edit the
prefix number of your dialing.Please review the previous chapter for
editing.
The number is
PABX dependent,it is 0 or 9 usually.
Step 1:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 2:Press the
OK button on the SyberTalk to set the system in the Ring-Trigger
setting.
Step 3:Press Arrow
to select Enable or Disable to set the answered mode of your SyberTalk.
Note: It is
stronged that you had better set your SyberTalk to Disable mode when
you are not at Home or no one can answer the call.
4.4 Gateway
Service
The SyberTalk
supports the feature to let you can the regular phone via the Internet.Ypu
have to do the following setting.
Step 1:You have
to set the SyberTalk to gateway call mode.Please check the previous
section How to set the gateway call
Step 1:The SyberTalk
supports you more parameters to set the system.
Step 2:Using the
Arrow button on the SyberTalk to scroll up or down the
message on the LCD.
Step 3:Press the
OK button on SyberTalk to set the system in the Gateway
Service mode
Please input the
IP address of your gateway service provider.
Note: This will
be stored in your unit for selecting in the future version.Now you
can set:
202.167.80.60(access
code for dialing is 002+country code + area code + number)
208.238.220.115(access
code for dialing is 011+country code + area code + number)
210.62.137.186(access
code for dialing is 002+country code + area code + number)

5. Making and Receiving the Phone Calls
Now you can start
to make a free or an almost free international call via the Internet,after
you have finished your configuration on your systemSyberTalk will
support you with the following calling mode to meet your requirements.
Standard mode
(pre-notify mode,SyberTalk to SyberTalk)
Ring-Trigger mode
(Free mode,SyberTalk to SyberTalk)
VTel mode (Virtual
Mobile mode,SyberTalk to SyberTalk or NETalk)
Getaway mode (SyberTalk
to normal phone)
You have to set
the called number before you select.You can use the phone book (discuss
on later chapter) for fast dialing.Otherwise you to set your system
as beginner of starting as below.
How to set
the standard mode
Make sure the
party you are calling has the MegicTalk.
Dial the number
of the party you are planning to call as usual.
Notify your party
that you want to make the Internet phone now
Press the OK
button on the SyberTalk .
Press the arrow
buttons to switch display message as below
Press OK
button again to start the Internet phone connection process.
It will take you
about one minute to end the process.After that,there is ring on both
sides.Answer your phone to start your conversion and simply hang up
when you complete the call.

How to set
the Ring-Trigger mode
Make sure the
party you are calling has the SyberTalk and enable the unit on the
Ring-Trigger mode.
Press OK
button on the SyberTalk
Press the arrow
buttons to switch display message below
Press OK
button again before dialing the remote telephone number and pond key
on the touch-tone telephone set or OK button on the SyberTalk
to issue the number for dialing.
It will take you
about one minute to end the call process.After that,there is ring
on the sides.
Answer your
phone to start your conversion and simply hang when you complete the
call.

Note: It is
trongly suggested to set the maximum number of ring to two.Please
answer your phone as normal phone after the 3´kl
ring,if you enable this mode.

How to set
the VTel mode
What kind of
user we can reach by this method
- SyberTalk user
logins ISP and in the waiting mode
- NETalk user
logins ISP and in the waiting mode
Dialing method
for calling side:
- Press OK
button on the SyberTalk
- Press the arrow
buttons switch display message as below
- Press OK
button again before dialing the remote telephone number and press
pond Key on the touch-tone telephone set or OK button
on the SyberTalk to issue the number for dialing.
- It will take
you about one minute to end the call process.After that,there is
ring on both sides.
Answer your
phone to start your conversion and simply hang up when you complete

will login the ISP and set to waiting mode automatically.
- The LCD will
display as below when you receive the VTel call.
- You can have
your conversive via Internet after you pick-up the handset or press
the OK button on the SyberTalk.
- You may reject
the call by pressing the Cancel button on the MagicTal
.You only have to simply hang up when you complete the call.
How to set
the gateway Call mode
- You have to
apply an Account I.Dform the Internet Phone Service Provider (ITSP).Please
surf the web site for detail.
- Please enter
the Account I.Dand selected Provider into your SyberTalk ,see later
chapter for detail.
- Press OK
button on the SyberTalk.
- Press the arrow
buttons to switch display message as below.
- Press OK
button again before dialing the remote telephone number (country
code + area code + phone number ) and press pond Key on the touch-tone
telephone set pr OK button on the SyberTalk to issue
the number for dialing
Note: International
access code id not required(ex00 or 001)
- It takes you
only 10 seconds to have such connection and start your talk via
the Internet to normal telephone.

6. How to Upgrade the features
The SyberTalk
can be upgraded via the following methods to let your unit add some
new features and improve current functions.The SyberTalk will give
you the upgrade notification by alternative RED / FREEN flashing on
led.
Note: You have
to disable your call waiting function and do not turn off or unplug
your SyberTalk during upgrading.
Method 1: Via
Internet (not available for Beta version)
After your SyberTalk
receive the Notification,it will display the following message on
your LCD and have the alternative RED / GREEN flashing on led.
Press the OK
button to process your upgrading.After the upgrading,you have to turn
off and turn on again to run the unit under the lastest version of
software.
Method 1: via
Hot Line (not available for Beta version)
Press the Arrow
button to switch the message from system Function,Service function
to Upgrading as below.
Press OK
button to set the unit to Upgrading mode and use Arrow
button to select the upgrading method as by Modem.Press OK
to confirm and display the following message
Key in the hot
line number and press the OK butto.The SyberTalk will
dial up to the number and do the upgrading automatically.
Note: you will
find the hot line number at the web site
After the upgrading,you
have to turn off and turn on again to run the unit under the latest
version of software.
Method 3: via
Cable
The SyberTalk
permits you to download the latest and do the upgrading via the COM
Port
(using the Rs-232).The
latest software will be on the web site for you downloading.Please
access the web site first for detail before you do the action.
Press the Arrow
button to switch the message from System Function,Service function
to Upgrading as below.
Press OK
button to set the unit to Upgrading mode and use Arrow
button to select the upgrading method as by Cable.Press OK
to confirm and do the software upgrade via the serial port (COM port).
After the upgrading
,you have to turn off and turn on again to run the unit under the
latest version of software.

7. FAQ
Q: Do we have
to pay extra fee for the Internet phone application?
A: No,you
did not have to.You only have to pay the regular telephone fee and
your normal ISP service fee.
Q: What type
of telephone service we have to apply?
A: You only have
to use the regular analog telephone line or your office analog PBX.
Q: How do upgrade
my SyberTalk ?
A: Please check
the user¡¦s guide on the Chapter 7 for detail.
Q: Could I
stop the upgrade before it is completed?
A: No.may damage
the SyberTalk .Please disable the call waiting function before upgrading
the unit
Q: Do I have
to have PC for Internet phone application by using SyberTalk?
A:No,you did not
have to.You just plug your regular phone and make the calling as usual.
Q: Do I have
to have the SyberTalk on both sides?
A: No,it is not
necessary for SyberTalk to NETalk or SyberTalk to regular phone.
Q: How about
the voice quality?
A: It is similar
to the voice on the regular phone.Because the SyberTalk have a hardware
solution to do the digitization and compression.
Q: What is
the requirement for such Internet phone service.
A: SyberTalk is
working on most of the ISP which support PPP protocol in the world
which Some ISP such as AOL and Delphi do not support PPP will not
work.
Q: Do I have
any time limited to talk over the Internet?
A: No,you can
talk as long as your ISP permits
Q: How long
I have to wait after dialing out?
A: It will take
you one minute or less.It depends on the condition of your ISP and
telephone line.
Q: Could I
talk to someone using NetMeeting or other Internet phone software
on a computer?
A: No,it does
not support at this moment.
Q: What is
the LED indicator doing for?
A: The LED will
show all status during the operatio.See Chapter 1 The LED Indicator
for detail.
Q: Do I have
to turn the SyberTalk off after using?
A: No,you can
keep the unit on all the time.
Q: How do I
the SyberTalk operate normally?
A: The unit will
do the self-testing every time you turn it on.
Q: What are
the requirements for the SyberTalk?
A: You should
have a dial-up Internet account,a touch-tone phone,analog line.
